Golf Shoes - Get The Best Golf Footwear For All Your Needs

from: www.ultimategolfguide.com

You might have paid a lot of attention to your golf clubs and golf balls, but have you ever thought about the type of golf shoes you should be wearing? Well, if you haven’t then you should, because getting the right golf footwear is important. You do a lot of walking on the course, and so your shoes are important. You also use your golf shoes to gain grip and improve your stance whilst swinging, and so you need a pair of golf shoes that will not only feel comfortable but also give you the feel and grip that you require. If you are looking for the perfect footwear for your golfing needs, then here is some advice on golf shoes to get you started.

Choosing the right materials

The first thing you need to think about when choosing golf shoes is to pick the right material for your needs. If you are on a budget, then polyester shoes are the best way to go. They are much cheaper than other materials, although they don’t last as long. However, they are good for summer as they are lighter and thinner than other materials. Traditional leather shoes are also good, because they are durable, comfortable and breathable. However, leather shoes do take a bit of looking after if you want to keep them in good condition. For a good balance of price, durability and comfort you could go for Gore-Tex, which takes less looking after than leather but is fully waterproof.

Picking spikes

Spikes are another crucial component of golf shoes, as they keep your feet gripped to the ground so that you do not slip. You will typically have seven or eight spikes at the ball of the foot and four at the heel, usually about 3-4cm in length. Although traditional spikes are made of metal, you are better off with plastic as they don’t do as much damage to the course. You can also get shoes with grooves rather than spikes, although these are generally only good for summer when you need little grip. Grooved shoes are good for people who have knee or leg injuries and don't want to keep their leg in the same place whilst swinging. In general the best shoes to go for are plastic spiked shoes. However, remember that you will need to change the spikes whenever they show significant signs of wear and tear. This will make sure you have the best grip possible at all times.

Whatever materials and spikes you choose, make sure your golf shoes feel comfortable and are the right size so that you can perform well around the course at all times.
