International Golf Course Management
from: www.ultimategolfguide.comGolf is an international sport, and there are thousands of golf courses across the world. In order to maintain these courses in good working order, management is important. International golf course management is an occupation that could be quite rewarding if you know what you are doing. In fact, any type of management in regards to golf courses could be lucrative. How can you become involved in international golf course management, and what is needed to maintain golf courses across the world?
First of all, you should probably get some experience with local management, taking over the management of a course in your area. This way, you will become familiar with the needs of a golf course and what is involved in maintenance, customer service, and financial management. When you have full control of the first golf course, you could perhaps begin to grow your business, taking over the management of a second course. Eventually, you’ll have a separate management company that golf courses can hire in to manage their properties.
Once you hit this status, it may be time to look into international golf course management, perhaps beginning with courses outside the country that are not in need of real renovations or any kind of new management policies and opting not to have new ones built. That way, you will not have to concern yourself as much with the inner workings of those courses that you cannot visit as frequently yourself. You can leave others in charge and simply work with the staff from a distance. If you start with “needy” courses, you may have trouble staying on your feet and getting the courses off the ground.
You may eventually wish to use your international golf course management company for the restructuring of failing courses around the world. If you do, be prepared to travel frequently to the courses you manage in England, Dubai, The Netherlands, Germany, Japan, and any other countries where you have “fixer-uppers”.
If you wish to get into the management of golf courses, you will have to start at the bottom and work your way up, unless you have previous experience in the management of country clubs, sporting facilities, or parks and wildlife facilities. In your quest for international golf course management opportunities, you should always start small and be cautious; it can be difficult to make a success of a long distance business, and when it comes to management of multiple properties, you are looking at a hefty responsibility from afar. Whatever your road may be, international golf course management is nothing to take lightly, and if you are serious, you should begin looking for breaking opportunities immediately.
